According to the We Are Social 2020 Digital report, WhatsApp, the most widely used messaging app worldwide, has reached 2 billion users. The app, which announced it had reached 1.5 billion users two years ago, added 500 million users to its user base within two years.
Facebook recently announced its fourth-quarter earnings report that 2.26 billion users are logged in to one of their Facebook, Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp apps every day. Facebook’s app family, which has a total of 2.89 billion monthly users, grew 9 percent year-on-year.
WhatsApp, which was founded 11 years ago and sold to Facebook for $19 billion six years ago, is finally paying off its investment in Facebook. Facebook, which recently backed down on WhatsApp ad models, announced that it would focus on WhatsApp business tools.
The company launched whatsapp business, the free Android app for SMEs in January 2018, and launched the desktop and web version in January 2019. During the same period, the company announced that it had reached 5 million business customers.
The company released the iOS version of WhatsApp Bussiness in March 2019 and is now widely used by SMEs and well-known businesses.
