Googlehas officially launched AMP for Email, which will be used to transform emails from static documents into dynamic, web page-like experiences. AMP for Emailwill be activated for Gmail. However, other important email providers, such as Yahoo Mail, Outlook and Mail.ru, will also support AMP email.
It’s been more than a year since Google first announced the initiative. Even by Google standards, it’s a long incubation phase. However, it is possible to say that many background work has been done to ensure that this feature works properly. AMP for Email’s first goal is to convert basic emails into interactive content. In short, it is possible to browse hotel listings via e-mails, fill out forms and browse the products to be purchased.
Let’s also mention that AMP for Email does not include any changes to communication. So your business and personal messaging will go the way they used to. However, with the new technology, it will help save time spent with e-mails. For example, you’ll be able to reply to a comment sent to you with the Google doc without having to open the app. Similarly, in messages from a project management app, you’ll be able to mark the tasks as complete or transfer them to a colleague via notification email.
This new format is now supporting some companies and websites. Booking.com, Despegar, Doodle, Ecwid, Freshworks, Nexxt, OYO Rooms, Pinterest and redBus are currently companies that use Gmail’s AMP for Email feature. If you receive regular e-mail from one of these companies, we can say that you will soon witness the new format in person.
Please also note that If you use Gmail on a third-party customer, you’ll only see the static version.
