Game of Thrones creators sign $200 million deal with Netflix

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weisssigned a $200 million deal with Netflix. According to this agreement, the benioff and Weiss duo will not produce projects for HBO; He’s going to make tv shows and movies for Netflix.

Prior to the $200 million deal, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss met with several digital broadcasting platforms, including Amazon and Disney. Until July, Amazon was known to take these talks one step ahead. However, netflix’s new offer last month has outperformed its competitors.

Disney was also thought to have a better advantage at this point. Because Benioff and Weiss have already hired Disney for a trilogy set in the Star Wars universe. In fact, the first of the films is released on December 16, 2022. Even the nearest movie is in 2022, which means the two will be busy with the Star Wars universe for a long time. At this point, netflix is the subject of curiosity about when and how to produce content.

On top of all this, netflix’s $200 million allocation, even for the duo alone, proves once again the importance of long-term deals. Prior to that, Amazon signed a $150 million deal with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Likewise, J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robots is said to be signing with a digital platform soon. Let’s remind you that this is likely to be an Apple TV+.
