At yesterday’s I/O developer conference, Google announced that 2.5 billion devices are currently operating Android. Let’s also remind you that two billion devices used android operating systems two years ago.
In this sense, we can say that Android growth is progressing step by step rather than increasing with a rapid acceleration. From September 2015 to May 2017, the company managed to add 400 million new devices to the operating system, and had to work for another two years to add another 500 million devices to the growth.
Despite all this, Android has continued to stand out as the most popular operating system for the past few years. In the meantime, google has invested in KaiOS in the past to disable Android as well as Mozilla’s Firefox OS operating system. Although Firefox OS ended up a failed attempt, Google did not share any data on KaiOS at the event. On the other hand, with the demand of developing countries in the future, it is possible for KaiOS to gain value.
