Amazon investor to buy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced that the electric vehicle startup Rivian will produce 100,000 electric vehicles for Amazon to use in deliveries. It’s worth remembering that the venture has previously received $700 million from Amazon and $500 million from Ford.

In his speech, Bezos talked about the company’s plans for the climate change problem, announcing that delivery vehicles would be electric in the future. Bezos said that they had signed an agreement with rivian and that they would buy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian between 2021 and 2024.

In the meantime, the Rivian has so far mentioned only two vehicles in its production plans: the electric pick-up Rivian R1T and the electric SUV Rivian R1S. Jeff Bezos made the official announcement in the first place, but is expected to share details of the electric van that rivian will be producing soon.

It is worth noting that the two began talks for co-operation during an Amazon-led investment tour in February.

The company, which will begin production of the Rivian R1T and R1S late next year, can benefit from the minibuses it offers to Amazon in its next production for consumers.
